Let’s face it: Austin’s growth is not being managed well. Across all walks of life and all parts of town, housing affordability is a top concern. We now have a transportation crisis to match, with transit options and traffic that are some of the worst in the nation. On top of that, City Hall is regularly cited of violating transparency laws, and the controversial CodeNEXT rewrite of the land development code is millions of dollars over budget, with no finish line in sight.
As mayor, Laura will address our housing crisis with equitable, neighborhood-friendly solutions that are driven by the community, not by land developers and their lobbyists. She will work toward a mass transit system that meets our city’s growing needs. She will also run City Hall openly and collaboratively, with a focus on the local residents and local businesses it is supposed to serve.
